It’s become quite clear to me that as time passed people have sustained a higher level of ignorance.
Do you remember those days when someone would approach you via messenger or text asking you how your day was? DAYS before they gathered up the courage to ask you what you were wearing?
Or how they would patiently wait for you? And immediately get the hint when you show no interest in them and they respond with a “Sorry to bother you” rather than a “But I’m rich!”?
What about those days when people understood the meaning of manners and weren’t so trashy? The days when people could disguise cheap and desperate under a classy and sophisticated mask? The days when one waited for the right kind of attraction before running around telling every other person that they love them?
I’m beginning to believe that all of these good qualities and instincts a person should naturally obtain are no longer a courteous well mannered act or tradition, but a skill.
A skill that is lost in our generation.
It saddens me to say that if years from now, these little genuine characteristics that a human should naturally be born with had faded into nothing but sickening pride and ill mannered spirits, I’ll be sure to lay in my death bed with the latest VOGUE in my hands instead of a ring on my finger. Mark my words.
